Critics' Review:
"Garnet red color. Intense and persistent, fruity with a winy note and wood favor. Medium body, good tannins, balanced and ready to drink. Excellent with all the typical courses of Italian traditional cooking, with meat and baked fish."
"Sangiovese is a medium-bodied red with savory flavors of tart cherry, plum, tomato, fresh tobacco, anise, thyme, oregano, and dried earth. High-quality, well-aged examples will take on notes of smoke, clay pot, leather, gamey meat, potpourri, and dried fruits. Corsican Nielluccio is distinguished by a subtle perfume of dried flowers."

My Review:
This Farnese Fantini was the first Sangiovese I have tried thus far on my personal journey through the wonderful world of wine! It was a fabulous first experience. I thought this wine had full body and in appearance it was dark purple, almost black in color. The tastes I noticed with this wine included tangy cherry, earthy, tobacco flavors. I also noted hints of herb flavors that were mentioned from various reviews I have read. I definitely noticed thyme flavors. The price of this wine is great for the wonderful, unique flavors offered by this incredible wine! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in trying their first Sangiovese. The wine would pair well with a charcuterie board with a marriad of delicious cheeses meats. I also think it would pair well with a variation of greek olives marinated in oils and herbs.
